Performance Studies, University Of California, Berkeley (UCB) Meh. It was a long shot anyway. But it's still a disappointingly impersonal process considering all the time and money we spend putting these applications together.

All Of Them, Everywhere University I just got a generic email: "To Whom It May Concern: We have been notified of your attempted application to a number of schools for which you are poorly qualified. Please accept this one letter of rejection on behalf of those schools. They felt bad having to notify you separately of your rejection, so they pooled your application fees and hired us to be the bearer of bad news. As a service to them and to you, we have included these anonymous comments from your (previously) prospective schools. 1) ARE YOU KIDDING ME? 2) I get jokes. 3) This guy is actually pretty qualified...for me to poop on! Thank you for you time. Please consider applying again next year."

Gender Studies, Indiana University, Bloomington Departmental secretary stated that all students who have been accepted or wait listed have been notified at this point, but that it is still early and they may "go down" the list. I'm trying to remain positive and not have a meltdown, but it's hard. This is my top choice.

Energy And Resources Group, University Of California, Berkeley (UCB) We had 244 applicants and were only able to offer admission to 18 new students. Every application was read by three members of the admissions committee. Your application made it through the first cut that winnowed the files down to about 50, and was thus read again by all six members of the admissions committee.

Operations Management & Manufacturing, Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Tepper School Of Business Ecstatic, as this is one of my top choices! The weird thing is the e-mail didn't say what program I was admitted to (just said "PhD program"), and I expressed interest in Operations Management and Manufacturing, Operations Research, and ACO, but I think it's OM&M. I'll post an update I guess when I get more information, in case people are waiting on a specific program and want an idea. Best of luck to all other Tepper applicants!

Medical Anthropology, University Of California, Berkeley (UCB) Should have been contacted last week by my potential advisor, but heard only today when I got an email about visiting the department... Confirmed on the phone with the graduate advisor - I'm thrilled! I assume that the email sent this morning was addressed to all anthro students since it had about 20 recipients and only 3 students were admitted in the med anthro program... Good luck to all of you!
