TPB: Thanks for your nice advice and your early decision. It will definitely help us. I sent an email to Dept. to ask about my ranking on wl couple of weeks ago but they replied that they could not provide any information. So I guess if Duke's deadline is morning April 15 then I could probably wait. But if the deadline is in the afternoon then I have to make my mind. So Duke does not ask you guys to respond by a specific time, just April 15?

TPB: I recently declined this offer. I think it would be better to wait, but also ask the department the likelihood to be admitted, especially a few days before the deadline. Think that: 1) Depts. have a strong interest in accepting now people that are going to accept, then signalling this has a non-negative effect on the decision about your status; 2) Some depts. could also be clear with you, especially right before the deadline, that the chances are very high (i.e., you are on the top of the waitlist) or very low (i.e., there are 1-2 spots not yet accepted and you are 20th in the waitlist). In your interest, contact the faculty. Good luck!

To those admitted to Duke: What is the deadline on April 15 to respond to Duke's offer? I am waitlisted at Duke and I got another offer that I have to respond before 1 pm on April 15. Just curious whether Duke could make any move on the waitlist before that time or not. Thanks for your help!

TPB: I am the one who asked on 26 March. I do think they haven't touched the waitlist yet. I know a couple of students who haven't heard from them either, same situation. But I received a better offer since then. I will withdraw my application from the WL as soon as possible! Good luck! :D

To the person who asked on March 26th, I'm also on the wait list and haven't heard back either. Duke is my top choice and it's so stressful not to know my chances of being admitted.

Has someone heard back from Duke? It seems they haven't moved their waitlist at all since first-wave decisions in February. Am I right? Tks!

I'm glad one of my professors encouraged me to apply here because I didn't have a "safety" PhD program (i.e a place I applied to for the sake of getting in somewhere) and have been rejected from almost all so far. So on the off chance you've been accepted and know you're going somewhere else, it'd be much appreciated if you could decline. Congrats to everyone who's gotten in somewhere this season has been brutal by the looks of it!

TPB: Admitted student here. The "visit" day is still March 23rd, though it will be virtual through Zoom, from 9-5. Unsure if waitlisted students were invited, though admittedly 3/8 of the day will be spent doing one-on-one sessions with individual faculty meetings. We received a survey form last week to rank the faculty we'd like to speak with

TPB: I heard that Duke invited only the top 10 of the waitlist (and not the rest of the waitlist) to the open house

To those admitted/ waitlisted to Duke Ph.D. in Economics, when is the open day? Also, are there any waitlisted students invited to the open day? I am on the waiting list and I am not invited to the open day. Don't know what to do. Anyone in the same boat? Thank you so much!
