Was originally my first choice, after a closer look and fit, it became my second choice. Sad nonetheless

I decided to decline my offer today, hopefully a waitlisted person gets in!

Wasn't the best fit, so I totally understand. No hard feelings about this one.

Email excerpts reads "I am writing on behalf of the Indiana University Department of Sociology Graduate Admissions Committee. The committee has met and, while we are not able to extend an offer of admissions at this time, we have put you on the waitlist for our graduate program. Our decision was a difficult one, as we were very impressed by your record and we are convinced that you will do well in any graduate program. Unfortunately, this year was an unusually competitive admissions process and we are not able to extend offers of admission to all highly qualified applicants. I wish I had better news at this time. Should we find additional funding, we will contact you in the hopes of bringing you to Bloomington."

Recieved same letter from IU as the other person wait listed today

I would give my left foot to get off this wait list

Knowing what I would do to get off this waitlist will likely disturb my sleep for some time. Please call them if you got in and you know you won't be accepting!
