Graduate School Admission Results

Apply to MS Data Analytics Engineering, but transfer to MS Data Analysis.

I live in the NYC area and was emailed by the director if I wanted to be considered for the cert program since I was rej for the MS. 4 years of work experience in economic research for multilateral orgs and U.S. gov't; MA in Econ from a top 3 int'l relations school; 3 stellar letters of rec (1 chief economist, 1 deputy chief economist, 1 well published researcher); 3.8 GPA in metrics and math (also meeting all prereqs); two data science certificates. Alas, it seems GRE will break you for this program.

I received a wait list on Thursday and was told wait list results can be declared as late as may or early July ? Found it strange since they did give out some admits earlier and 15th was the deadline for the second batch of admits .. Any idea what is happening ???

Emailed by director with notification of rejection and option to transfer application to non-degree certification program. Three years of work experience in data analytics, undergrad degree in unrelated field (liberal arts).

Any one know anything about the decision timeline? I am still waiting for the result...I have to make decision ASAP...

The waitlists results can be declared as late as May or June. So if you have not got your result you surely have been waitlisted.

Head of program reached out asking me to consider certificate program with option to re-apply to M.S. next yer. Do all people given this option, do you think you'll take it?

I also received the option to transfer my application to the non-degree program. I let the director know I would like to transfer the app, but I'm not sure I'll take the option if it's offered. Does anyone know of people using the certificate program to get into the Masters the following year? Would it be worth it?

I too was rejected from the MA program and asked if I wanted to be considered for the certificate program. I rejected to be considered since I had two certificates already (one from coursera, one from a boot camp program that wasn't terribly technical -- much cheaper!). Listen folks, data science is a FLAT playing field; you DO NOT need a program like this to land a good data science gig or to vastly expand your skills. I barely met the prereqs for this program + bad GRE scores (though had some 3 years work experience in data engineering/analysis) and got offered a job the same day as my Columbia rejection as a data scientist for a fortune 500 company w/above salary median in 2014 O’Reilly data science salary survey. Work hard and dream harder!

Any idea how many are waitlisted here and when possibly can we hear about the results ? I am getting anxious !

Status got changed into FINAL REVIEW. Do I still have chance to get accepted?

Did not see many admits for Data Informatics. Did not expect this :(

Offered admission with 30% tuition waiver

I am still on the waiting list (B). Do you think there is still a chance to get enrolled in this program? Anyone has any kind of information? Jonathan said the chance to get in is quite less. But I have not got the rejection letter yet. But I know someone on the waiting list B as well got rejected two weeks ago.
