- I too was rejected from the MA program and asked if I wanted to be considered for the certificate program. I rejected to be considered since I had two certificates already (one from coursera, one from a boot camp program that wasn't terribly technical -- much cheaper!). Listen folks, data science is a FLAT playing field; you DO NOT need a program like this to land a good data science gig or to vastly expand your skills. I barely met the prereqs for this program + bad GRE scores (though had some 3 years work experience in data engineering/analysis) and got offered a job the same day as my Columbia rejection as a data scientist for a fortune 500 company w/above salary median in 2014 O’Reilly data science salary survey. Work hard and dream harder!
