Offered funding from the waitlist. I accepted the offer! I had originally been 3rd on the waitlist when they first emailed me, so whoever was originally 4th on the waitlist is now 1st, FYI. I also just declined a funded offer from Oklahoma State and took my name off Florida State's MA waitlist (I don't know where I had been on FSU's waitlist). I only started applying to MA programs in mid-February after I started receiving a bunch of PhD rejections. I did not even know funded MA programs existed before February and I was surprised to find that there are a number of very good MA programs out there. If there are any current undergrads who will be applying to philosophy programs in the future, I would encourage you to apply to both MA and PhD programs! This is definitely not where I expected to end up next year, but I'm happy with how it worked out (if only I could get those 15 PhD application fees back.......)! |

I called the main phone number on the department's website and asked about my status because I have heard nothing since I applied in December. I was told they just finalized their incoming PhD class for next year, but have not yet sent out official rejections. That is, if you haven't been accepted into Vanderbilt, then you are rejected and will hear from them soon. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to any other Vandy applicants, but you're probably like me and prefer knowing rather than not knowing. |
