Computer Science PhD Graduate School Admission Results

Interviered on 12.25 and 1.5. Got the letter today. Area: Security.

Got waitlisted. Had a couple of interviews almost a month back.

Has anyone heard from them? I was in the Visit Weekend earlier this month. Anyone who was in the Visit Weekend and has heard from them or still waiting for the decision?

I have also applied to the MS/Ph.D. program. But I don't think we would get a positive decision now, at least not for the MS/Ph.D. program. There might be some hope for an MS admit. To the poster with the outstanding profile: If you have so many publications, why are you even cribbing about UMass? UMass MS is not a research program. Also, getting an MS from CMU and UMass wouldn't matter much when you apply for jobs. You would know all this if you had done some research of your own.

MS/PhD applicant here as well, graduated from a school in London. My portal still says Application Under Review and i'm panicking cause today is the 22nd. I really want to go here but if I cant, i'll just go to George Washington as I have a pending offer there.

I was one of the posters asking if they would tell me if I was on the waiting list before Jeff replied. but reading Jeff's explanation closely it sounds like we can assume we are rejected if we havent heard back but they havent sent rejections because some "late" faculty did not do anything yet. I appreciate he came here to reply to us and Jeff even said he does not do admissions. either way it's not okay to post racist garbage here and thankfully that post was deleted

Same as the person who shared 'copy-paste email from EECS admission chair saying I've been waitlisted along with ~50 others across EECS subareas. EECS apply portal is still blank.' I wonder when they will send out the final results. It says in the email that they will do it in March, but still they initially claimed results would be out in early March...

So you know what is their reason for holding on to the rejection list?

I emailed the graduate coordinator and she replied saying that acceptances have already been sent, and I have not been recommended for admission at this point. Official rejections will be sent early to mid April. It's kind of bittersweet for me as I got into UMASS but Purdue was definitely a better research fit for me :(

PhD programs that still didn't release their results... what the h*ck are you doing? Honestly, schools should feel ashamed at this point if they didn't release their results. You are being too indecisive or being too lazy. At least send out the obvious rejects and waitlist people if you are not sure if you can accept or not. You know students need a chance to make their choice you know. At this COVID is just a lazy excuse for being late, it's not like writing something it's just a yes or no question.

Has anyone received result yet? The coordinator said about last week of February.

ASU undergrad with 3.71 GPA, 2 NASA internships, a few other internships, 2 papers, 1 first author, another in progress. My letter writers are somewhat connected with MIT and likely wrote decent recs. Obviously it's MIT so very competitive.. Luckily I have a good offer at ASU!
