Data Science, George Washington (GW) Undergraduate GPA is cumulative. After failing my first year of undergrad, I took some time off of school, then went back to school online at a for-profit uni and got a 3.91 in Environmental Science (I also took Calc III, Linear Algebra, Statistics, and 4 Programming classes withs A's in all). After getting really into machine learning and data on my own, I was pretty dejected when I looked on here and saw the stats of everyone getting in were far better than mine. but I applied anyways after I got a good GRE score and I had internship on an ML Team (my supervisor wrote me a great LOR). I ended up getting into the DS programs for all the D.C. area schools. I hope this inspires people with less-than-stellar records to not give up and seek out the programs you desire.

Part III: Applied Mathematics, University Of Cambridge Offer conditional on getting a First (>70%). Have 3 research project experiences (2 in hep-th and one in optical theory) and a coauthored paper in review (optical theory). bad/okay grades in Years 1 & 2 (~65%) but then an 83% average in Term 1 of Year 3. Basically not all hope is lost if you get bad grades earlier in your degree! (wish someone told me this while I applied)

Applied Mathematics, MAST, Part Iii, University Of Cambridge (UK) Original GPA is 4.17/4.30 (Pure Mathematics). Have participated to prestigious international programs such as Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings. One publication not much related to Theoretical Physics. Graduate Program In Economic Development (GPED), Vanderbilt University So pumped, notified via email to check portal, no financial assistance but I have outside funding. Strong LOR's, relevant development experience overseas, and strong statement of purpose. Additionally, I have Calc I, II, and III, and Linear Algebra. Good luck everyone else!
