Mechanical Engineering, NSF GRFP Just got the NSF GRFP, this is my third try (once as an Undergrad, once as a Fulbright Fellow, and now as a Grad Student). The feedback is key, or at least it was key for my updates. Congrats to everyone who got it and to everyone else, keep your head up... feedback will make you stronger!!!

Materials Science And Engineering, UC Santa Barbara (UCSB) to poster below, I'm also still in limbo! haven't heard anything. same for Berkeley and Northwestern for me. my best guess is they have us on waitlist and would accept us if a) we got NSF GRFP or b) enough people decline their offers. good luck!

Marine Science, University Of Georgia Athens Acceptance into PhD program for marine sciences. Awarded GSRA (Graduate School Research Assistantship) that covers 4 years of studies through the Graduate School and the department, and a stipend of $27,000/year. Must accept by April 15th. I'm holding out to hear about the NSF GRFP first but will accept this offer if not awarded the NSF fellowship.

Chemical Engineering, University Of California Santa Barbara (UCSB) To the poster below asking about UCSB waiting for NSF GRFP notifications: I received the award and asked the department to consider my updated application. They both congratulated me on NSF and rejected me in the same email today. Then I got rejected again through the website portal.

Chemistry, NSF GRFP VG/G, VG/VG, E/VG. Applying as an undergrad. They seemed impressed with my academic record and proposal, although the first reviewer was concerned that I didn't have a strong enough plan for community outreach. Another reviewer mentioned that while my proposal sounded like a solid plan, my previous research experiences were not related to my proposal, so that raises some doubt about my ability to carry it out. I'm bummed about this one but I'm still going to Berkeley! Good luck to everyone else.
