Astronomy, Penn State (Pennsylvania State University) A little surprised at this, 3.6 GPA, 3 years of research, 2 REUs, 1 1st author publication, 1 2nd author publication in the works, 3 strong LOR, and connections to the astro dept. and area of interest that the department is strong in. Interesting note: they apparently got 60% more applicants this year than they usually do.

Physics And Astronomy, Johns Hopkins University TTPB: Not the person who first wrote, but I was accepted through a department email from a program administrator. My portal is not yet updated (just checked). It also seems like they didn't send out acceptances all at the same time since people reported being accepted before I had heard anything. Applied for astro.

Astronomy, California Institute Of Technology TTPB: This was the first and last interview I’ve had, they’re sending out decisions within the next 1-2 weeks after interview are done. Intended subfield of high energy astro with multiple years of research experience (including some with folks from Caltech), strong LORs, first author paper published in ApJ, lots of leadership experience and undergrad mentor experience, second first author paper in prep, outreach involvement, 3.8/4.0 GPA with bachelors in Physics and bachelors in Astronomy & Astro and multiple minors from R1 University

Aero/Astro, Purdue University West Lafayette TTPB: I cannot tell you the exact name of that faculty, but he is not my POI. My second department choice was ME and he is an adjunct professor of ME and AAE. I think an interview offer is not only my case because my colleague also got an interview offer from Purdue ME and he is now accepted.
