Big state school- excellent physics program. 2 semesters unrelated research (env. Engineering), 1 summer + 2 semesters geophysics research. 1 summer hep ex research. Current interdisciplinary senior thesis in nuclear astro/planetary science. 1 pub in prep. Physics TA for 2 semesters. Dept. and school scholarships. Applied for nuclear astro/neutrinos.

Astrophysics, University Of Geneva I finished my BSc with a major in Physics from Fergusson College, India. I have solid research background of 1 year in Astronomy and Astrophysics and took part in a lot of Astro co-curricular activities during my Bachelor's degree.

Astronomy, University Of Texas At Austin 3.43 GPA, ~1.5 years research, no pubs. This was the last astro school I was waiting on, so looks like unless one of the physics schools accepts me I'll be trying again next year. I'll be back, GradCafe! :]

Astronautical Engineering (Astro), University Of Southern California Reached out to several faculty members, many showed interest and asked to interview. One later notified me that I had not been selected because my GPA (3.4) was below the threshold. Holistic review aside, slightly disappointed that USC nowhere mentions a threshold that makes e a portion of applications moot. Regardless, congrats to anyone admitted!

Physics, UIUC My bad, I was under the assumption 30 is normal intake. And a prof told me that they will admit less people this year as the incoming class size last year was large. Still, I think 2-3% is too low for international astro theory guys like me to make it in.

Physics, Arizona State University HEP/Astro/Cosmo - Will reject the offer since I got another offer which matches my interests better. Still, happy to get an acceptance given that I wrote GRE only because of ASU!

Physics, Stanford University One paper has been approved last month, and I'm working on getting feedback on another. About one year of research in astro. Totally did not expect to get in, but am super excited and will probably go! Also, I think someone asked whether there were interviews, I didn't get an interview from Stanford, and I've been told by some other students that they haven't had interviews in past years either. Also, would love to hear from the person who posted a while ago about how they applied to only Stanford because of how amazing their letter of recs were. Just would be good to know the kind of students I would have in my cohort if I go lol
