Physics, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Super relieved to get this, had been all bad news so far. Got an email earlier in the day asking if I had any interest in AMO as they didn't have room for me in astro (my indicated interest on my application. Later in the same day got an email to check portal for update and I was accepted with funding!

Astrophysical And Planetary Sciences, University Of Colorado, Boulder 1.5 years of astro research, though a subject different from what I listed as my primary interest. First-author paper in progress. They told me I was in the top 1/6 of applicants so that was nice of them

Astronomy, Penn State University Straight rejection. They said that they received a record number of applications this year, so they were unable to admit many qualified applicants. I had a publication but not in astro. However, congratulations to people who got offer.

Physics, Harvard University I see acceptances for hep-th, cm and amo. Anyone applied for theoretical astro and heard anything from the Physics Department? Previous years trends seem to show acceptances anywhere from Feb 9th-14th with informal acceptances followed by official letters. Any reliable info on this from astro applicants/admits?

Physics, California Institute Of Technology Ignore waitlist; does anyone have any ideas explaining the massacre happening in hep-th admits? Although these programs are well known to be ultra competitive, but people with extremely good profiles are getting rejected. Also, is it true that the universities are sending the hep results after cmp and astro??

Physics, Georgia Institute Of Technology Received a mail from the chair notifying me that I am on the waitlist. They do not rank-order it, so I am not sure how this is going to work out. Anyway, if you have a better offer, please reject one from here. This is my top choice as of now. Subfield - Astro
