Graduate School Admission Results

Was on the waitlist for about two months, told today there was unfortunately no space for more than 1-2 Political Theory intakes. Email from the graduate chair was very kind and encouraged me to apply next year (I've already accepted elsewhere, but nice gesture). He sounded truly disappointed they couldn't take more students - even went so far as to let me know I could contact him for advice and connections in the future. Not disappointed because I am already going to a great program, but disappointed I won't get to work with such kind, caring faculty!

I have been accepted in the Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of British Columbia on March 5, 2014. The offer of admission includes a full Graduate Teaching Assistantship that amounts to $11,356 for both semesters. Yet, I refused this offer for personal and academic reasons on April 9, 2014. I am an international student with a Bachelor in a university in the province of Québec (Université de Montréal). I Hope this would help!

Pretty standard form email from the department. Not too choked up, wasn't planning to accept it anyways.

With funding package, at least 11,000 per year. So excited! Will accept it!

One of my priorities, the fifth rejection for this application round. Confused. Just need one offer!

It says it would admit 10-13 among 233 applicants....Said...my first priority!

Admitted me twice: once at 1PM and again at 5PM. $15000 in funding for each one. Wonder if they're cumulative?

MA POSC from Canadian School, 4.0 GPA. BA POSC/Sociology from Canadian school, ~3.8 GPA. BSc Comp Sci from Canadian school, ~3.5 GPA. Three strong letters. Approved with standard funding package ($18k x 4 years + $4k entrance + tuition + first year guaranteed $5k RA package).

Too belated notice, but they suggested me their Four Year Fellowship (4YF) from Year 1. As I already received admission from other program, I declined this offer. I hope this would help other applicants.

I'm losing count of all my rejections...

I regret to inform you that we are not able to offer you admission to our program. I would like to stress that we have a far greater number of qualified applicants than available positions. Of the 237 applications to our Graduate Program, we are able to accept class cohorts of only 10 -12 Ph.D. and 20 M.A. students for September. As a result, we are compelled to turn down many strong candidates.

Oh well, Vancouver's too rainy anyways...
