Graduate School Admission Results

After being rejected from another 8 graduate programs in California, and after literally losing all hope, this acceptance letter came through today, roughly 3 weeks after the April 15th deadline! They took longer this year due to the COVID-19 situation.. I guess the moral of the story is to (sometimes!) not give up on your hopes and dreams, for they might come true after all (even if it takes a little longer)!

First communication I've received from them. I figured I had been waitlisted and was now eliminated from it.

This was the last rejection. I wasn't interviewed. Best of luck to all other applicants. May you get admitted to your best choice.

Hi! Has anyone been accepted to the ICTP Postgraduate diploma program in High Energy, Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics yet?

TTPB: experimental condensed matter/soft matter. 2 first-author publications and a couple contributed talks/posters at national conferences. Average GPA and GRE scores. I didn't have an interview.

Was on the waitlist and reached out to them yesterday to check for updates. Unfortunately, they made their final admissions decisions already. Also they said "the Covid-19 pandemic has affected our budget planning for next year and that has had an impact on the planned size of our 2020-21 cohort." I was wondering if anyone else knows of other schools that have had their budget decreased this year (or in the last couple years for whatever reasons)? Seems to me that the number of admits is a little low this year. Maybe I'm just crazy though lol. Thoughts??

TTPB: Could you share the field of your interest and your profile, if you don't mind? And when you did you have interview?

TTPB: I have a Master's in gravitational physics (2 years, focused on research, in a Brazilian university). Applied to AMO, but mentioned a professor who is interested in both AMO and gravity. I have one published paper. Had contact with the professor beforehand (actually, I gave a presentation at TAMU last year).

TTPB: What were your research credentials like?
