Graduate School Admission Results

This is for everyone waiting for their admits. I received a response from the school saying my USC ID has not been created as the DoB mentioned on my application was wrong. This after 4 months. I updated my DoB and now waiting for USC ID so that I can at least see my status. Will provide updates when I receive them.

TTPB: Those 7cgpa students are from tier 1 and tier 2 colleges and with exceptional profiles, for the rest colleges, USC is highly gpa centric. But USC being cashcow won't spare a single seat and roll out admits even in June and July every year. So hardcore USC fans and 9+ pointers can keep waiting if they can manage the visa interviews with just emergency slots open. Also, almost all the consulates have cancelled visa slots till may end. and during this pandemic, consulates won't open in full capacity.

TTPB: Then how can we justify 10-15 people getting accepted with 7.4s and 7.2s and one on Yocket with 67%! Wow. For such a gpa centric school, I am surprised by some of these admits and rejects.

I'm extremely sorry for using the word Insider Information and causing the confusion. I just made that statement based on the admission results reported by others so far. First they rejected everyone below 8, then 8.5 and then almost everyone below 9 last week. All these rejects were during weekend. I think we just have to accept the fact that competition is high this year and move on with other admits.

TTPB with insider information: You're obviously making this up. What we don't know is why.

Insider Information: All students whose GPA is less than 9.3 especially those from Tier2/Tier3 colleges will receive a rejection mail either this weekend or next weekend.

Ignore waitlist. Is it worth waiting for USC now? It will be almost mid-may in a week. There's huge issue of visa slots in India, and once the slots open up for june or july, people will book them asap. Also, USC takes a month's time after you submit your financial docs to issue an i20. So that means it will almost be mid june by the time i20 is issued, so we cannot even book emergency slots by then. They don't even reply to mails properly. Stop playing with the mental health of students, there's already a lot going on in India. Just release the decisions quickly.

TTPB: (ignore waitlist) I haven't heard back either, but luckily I have other acceptances from similar tier schools. I hear Viterbi is notorious for sending out late decisions due to application volume. So yeah, still waiting. Good luck to everyone who is still waiting!

TTPB: (ignore interview).. nope no news at all.. so many people already got their accceptances and rejections.. not sure why USC ghosted us ..

No response yet. The waiting is killing me. I know other people from different departments at USC have not also received any response. I don't what they are doing. This is not right

Anyone hear anything today?

Rejected from M.Eng EECS (Data Science). This was the last place I was waiting for and I've been officially rejected from all programs I've applied to now (including my own alma mater). Stats: GPA: 3.7/4.0 in EE (with all foundational CS coursework + upper div CS electives in ML, AI, Databases, OS, Networks, Compilers, etc.) from a top 20 US university, GRE: 334/340 (168Q, 166V, 5.0W). Looks like CS masters programs really hate EE undergrads...

Got notified of my rejection through email today from the MEng program. Was on the waitlist earlier.

(I'm who was admitted to Engineers and Scientists). My first degree was in engineering however I'm enrolled in a cs post bacc program.

TTPB rejected from Data Science : what was your undergrad major and stats? If you were not CS, makes sense why the CSDS program transferred you to the CS for Scientists.

Did any of you guys apply to multiple Viterbi programs and not hear back from all of them?

I think I'm accepted. Rejected from DS but considered for Engineers and Scientist. Received an email to accept my admission by May 10th but never received an official offer of admission.

TTPB: (ignore waitlist) how do you know that we are on waitlist? are you just guessing? waiting is so painful.

Are there people who applied before December 15th and are still waiting. This is so frustrating. Any idea why it's taking so long to hear from them?
