Graduate School Admission Results

Received email yesterday on an update to my application status. Logged in today and it shows that I am accepted. Much needed.

TTPB: UMass didn't allow deferrals to Fall 2021 for Fall 2020 admits. They only allowed deferrals to Spring 2021 with a deposit. I got an admit for the MS program (applied for MS/PhD) for Fall 2020 but had to decline due to this.

TTPB: UMass did not give deferals. Stop spreading anxiety. "Please refer to the recent email entitled, "Updates on Fall Planning 2020." You may defer for one semester (Fall 2020) only. However, if you are unable to come to campus in January 2021 or decline to enroll remotely, you will need to reapply for fall 2021. Please carefully read the details of the email. The deadline to submit a request for a deferral is July 31, 2020."

Did anyone email Umass and asked them about whats going on?

Oh, come on, UMass!! Give the results already, please!! Can't wait anymore. Dying out of anxiety. Start your "ROLLING" asap.

TTPB: When did you write to the Admissions office and when did they reply?

TTPB : Admissions office said they can't say exactly when it will come but they said it will be soon. Someone should ask the CICS department or some student already there who can ask for us or the graduate program staff and give us an estimate atleast! (I was only answered by graduate office) If someone does hear anything, please tell.

SERIOUSLY whats the deal with umass? does anybody here have any idea on whats going on?

TTPB: Can you share your field of study?

Contacted by a professor not mentioned in my SOP. Received an offer letter after 5 days from the interview. 2 years relevant work experience in the industry, 3 conference publications.

Hi, I'm the one who interviewed with a prof last week, and I think not all the admissions for MS have not been done yet because even PhD applications are not fully considered yet. But I feel like you could be safe to ask the admission committee if you haven't heard for 10 weeks as you should be heard back by then according to the website.

TTPB : I am the poster who said the argument is faulty. I am sorry if that offended you but that was not my intention. I just pointed out the 2 flaws/corrections in your reasoning. I also dont see how you took upon yourself the whole its-the-uni-fault-for-keeping-different -info. I just pointed what uni has presented and did not mean anything personal to you. All I mean is the results should have started rolling out by now if we go by SPIRE or gradcafe posts 2020. And I am just anxiously waiting and being paranoid about it.

TTPB: I'm not the previous replier, just saw the argument so went to check at www.cics.umass.edu/admissions/application-instructions. It says March 15 in the first line under Graduate Admissions Decisions.

I see a lot of questions about MS admission decisions for UMass Amherst. Though the spire portal says that the avg. time to make a decision in 6-10 weeks. Their website clearly says "Fall admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis starting January 15 and ending March 30." -https://www.cics.umass.edu/admissions/prospective-graduates We may have to wait for a little more time.
