Graduate School Admission Results

To the 2020 PhD acceptance below - Can you tell us what your research interests are within the Cinema Studies program? Congrats!

On behalf of the Department of Physics, I am writing to inform you on the status of your application for admission to New York University's Graduate School of Arts and Science. It is the policy of the Graduate School to offer admission to outstanding doctoral students only if they are fully funded. Such funding comes from the Graduate School's MacCracken Fellowship Program, offered to a limited number of prospective students selected by the department. The department regards you as an outstanding potential candidate for admission and we have placed you on our wait list for admission. However, since we have only a limited number of full-funding offers that we may make, we are not yet able to make a final decision on your application. We hope to get a better sense of the resources available to us, and thus be able to determine whether we might be able to offer you admission with funding, by April 15.

I've heard nothing from them. I just called and my application is still in review. I have other offers, and to me, it's not a good sign not hearing anything this far after the application.

No research exp, no academic LoR, 4 yrs exp in data science companies

Got almost two Masters (part-scholarship one), one at Distinction level Russell Group last module, almost 4 years experience in Art field, published writer and invited lecturer - was a no. Translating foreign language text as thesis, want blood it seems. Only thing I can think of is that I didn't have best start first degree as I'm from low-income background and also International. Also my GRE, which is garbage anyway.

To the posts below: may I ask when is the campus visit? Do you plan to go?

Checked student portal for decision but never received an email. Funding decision was posted the day after. Received a 30% tuition scholarship.

Is anyone waitlisted by NYU get invited to the open house visit? I was not...

Could someone please provide any updates? I did not receive a rejection yet and I did not have an interview or any contact since I applied. Did others have interviews?
