Graduate School Admission Results

Accepted off the waitlist. Undergraduate thesis relating to the MSc project. So excited!

I posted this previously, but I am 90% sure I will be accepting this full funded offer that will extend to a PhD if I chose to do so. My funding first comes from being a GTA then my advisor's grant. If you happen to be waitlisted for the GTA positions, you will not be getting one most likely.

Invited to interview in person. 4 publications, Undergrad GPA was 3.44.

Kindly rejected by POI after requesting an update.

I also haven't heard anything about interviews from Caltech. I did ask the chair of astronomy to also consider my application so perhaps my application is being shifted between the two departments.

Has anyone heard back from geology-related PhD programs at Stanford/MIT/Harvard?

To the poster below me: I have not heard back from the Geological Sciences department either. I read that one student said they had an interview but that was long ago.

Waiting for official letter, but potential PI emailed me to say that I was accepted! Shocked and excited!

Tuition waiver and full funding for 4 years. My master's GPA is 4.0 and I have 5 years research experience, three REU's, one publication, five conference posters.

Called department anonymously to inquire about the timing of decisions. Was told that the first round of decisions has already gone out.

Pretty much expected this rejection, but figured I had a decent shot with a letter of rec from a faculty member there. Oh well :/

Accepted with a generous graduate fellowship, and super happy for the offer! Letter was dated Feb 10 and went straight to spam. I found out about it when my potential supervisor emailed me. My bad.
