I submitted my application about two months ago and had not received a response as of 4/7 (enrollment deadline for all schools I accepted to was 4/14) so I emailed admissions to check on the status. Received a very nice email from a professor in the program on 4/9 explaining that admissions believed I wouldn't handle a one-year intensive program well. She tried to push back given my background (I got my undergrad in three years vs. four) but they were adamant. I am supposed to get a formal rejection from Brown, but as of 4/12 I got nothing. Disappointed more by the inefficient admissions department than my rejection.

I received an email from Brown Watson Institute and they stated that the Admissions Committee has completed its early action deliberations, and they had more qualified applicants than we could admit at this time. However, the committee recognized my record of achievement and would like to reconsider my application as part of the regular admission process.
