Graduate School Admission Results

Dear Mr. Bastard, It is with regret that we write to inform you that you have not been accepted for graduate study at the University of California, Berkeley. We want you to know that despite surviving two rounds of rejections, we only kept you waiting because we wanted to make you suffer. Clearly, we are unable to make an offer to everyone at the same time because we don't give a f*** about you guys. We appreciate the interest you have shown in UC Berkeley but we only care about the $140 you paid to apply. Sincerely, f*** off.

Notified through email. Will be updated mid-March on position in the WL. Let's see how this goes.

5 a / 4 w / 4 r, humble yourself before the Waitlist King's throne

Dear PhD Applicant: I am writing to inform you that you are currently on a waiting list for the Brown University Economics PhD program. I should note that we received 713 applications and were only able to make a limited number of offers. We have put you on the waiting list because we believe you would nonetheless be a great addition to our program and because we anticipate making additional offers within the next month.

Will turn down. Have a couple top 5 offers.

Emailed the department. Offical "rejection" letter will go out later in the spring.

Not a great fit with the faulty so this is expected. But, they give feedback to your interview which is a quite nice gesture. Wish more grad schools do this.

Ignore Interview. Anyone else not heard back yet? Any idea what it means - IR, implicit waitlist?
