Expeced rejection

1 yr undergrad research, 1 yr industry work

Good Statement of Purpose, 4 strong LORs from experts (Professors) of the relevant field. 1 top conference publication, 1 journal, and 1 mid-tier conference publication. Intended research area: Computational Biology and Computer Vision. I wasn't contacted by my POI but got admission regardless. Excited, humbled, life-changing.

Interview a week ago from non-POI, said not guarantee admission but profile ranks well. Got email 4:30pm Jan 28.

Any idea when waitlisted candidates can expect final decisions? I wish they got this over with. Ironically, I saw there was a post for rejection->acceptance last year in April, lol.

TTPB: Admitted off the waitlist. The committee said all the acceptance should be out last Friday Apr. 2nd.

Same as the person who shared 'copy-paste email from EECS admission chair saying I've been waitlisted along with ~50 others across EECS subareas. EECS apply portal is still blank.' I wonder when they will send out the final results. It says in the email that they will do it in March, but still they initially claimed results would be out in early March...

Expected rejection! Like their EMAIL, wish you guys much continued success in all of your academic and professional endeavors. Most importantly, wish you guys good health and hope that you remain safe from the Corona-19 virus.

TTPB: I agree. I was one of the people who emailed asking for a status update. I got rejected but it had nothing to do with my email. I obviously knew I was getting rejected (since its march 18th), but just wanted to be sure so I could commit to a different school (still waiting on others xD). Literally everyone today that got an email got rejected, so they clearly knew the status of me (and many others). I totally agree this lack of transparency is cruel. If they knew they were going to reject me they should have let me know right away, not make me wait. Same with all schools. You should not have to wait until like April.

apparently March 18th counts as "early March" 🤡
