Graduate School Admission Results

VG/G, VG/VG, E/VG. Applying as an undergrad. They seemed impressed with my academic record and proposal, although the first reviewer was concerned that I didn't have a strong enough plan for community outreach. Another reviewer mentioned that while my proposal sounded like a solid plan, my previous research experiences were not related to my proposal, so that raises some doubt about my ability to carry it out. I'm bummed about this one but I'm still going to Berkeley! Good luck to everyone else.

really surprised! strong GPA but only a small amount of undergrad research

Just got the NSF GRFP, this is my third try (once as an Undergrad, once as a Fulbright Fellow, and now as a Grad Student). The feedback is key, or at least it was key for my updates. Congrats to everyone who got it and to everyone else, keep your head up... feedback will make you stronger!!!

Undergraduate in physics, private liberal arts college. Tons of research experience, multiple publications, many talks at top level conferences.

1st year grad student. Does anyone know where we can find the judges' feedback?

Senior in undergrad. Where or when can I find the feedback!

American citizen, completed BA and MSc internationally. Did not receive an email until 12+ hours after the results had been posted online, so I saw the results publicly before I received the email with the details.

I was rejected, but my email said: "Applications were reviewed according to the NSF Merit Review Criteria of Intellectual Merit and Broader Impacts. By April 29, 2019, NSF will send you an email with instructions for accessing Fastlane to view your application reviews."

VG/VG, E/E, E/E. I only got into 2 of the 8 grad schools I applied to so this was a big shock! Incredibly excited

E/E, E/E, VG/VG...I was super surprised about this! I had two research experiences that I wrote about for this, no pubs, expressed great interest in the broader impacts sections

Honorable Mention: E/E, E/E, VG/VG. One E/E directly said "this is a very strong application and I recommend it for GRFP funding." The VG/VG reviewer said I "would have benefited by a more detailed description of the benefit of the research opportunities with respect to the overall growth of the candidate (e.g. team work)" and that my Broader Impacts statement "lacks of details about the connection of the research with the broader non-expert non-college audience." I'm lucky I got actual constructive feedback; I know so many people who only have positive comments yet don't receive the award, so don't know how to improve! So I wanted to share it with y'all too in case it maybe applies!

Will be turning this down in order to accept NDSEG fellowship.
