First Class Honours LLB from non-UK university, LLM from non-UK university with dissertation in international refugee law and burden sharing, several years NGO and UN volunteer experience, significant charity work. Think my experience being mainly in law and that I already had a masters counted against me. Congratulations to all the successful applicants.

Interdisciplinary (Anthropology, Global Studies, Environmental Studies) BA from school in New York. Lots of research grants and ethnographic experience, weak traditional extracurriculars (such as clubs, sports, etc. Most of my free time was spent on independent research). Academic experience and volunteering pretty heavily focused on migration, and non-academic professional experience (3 internships) more related to environmental studies than migration directly. Exemplary student in the bubble of my undergraduate university, but perhaps average compared to students across other universities, especially Ivy leagues. Also applied for the MSc in Forced Migration and Refugee studies, and was rejected by email a few days after acceptance into the Migration Studies program. Very similar application materials for both (but tailored for each course), so must have been stiff competition this year.

Just received an email saying I was waitlisted. If you know you're going somewhere else, I beg you to decline the offer asap!! This is my last chance of getting into grad school (all my other apps have been rejected) and i'm starting to lose all hope...

November submission, a relief as the process was so painfully long and I can start making life decisions!
