I had originally applied to Classics, but they moved my file over to Philosophy (I study Ancient Philosophy). Six people admitted to Philosophy this year

I had excellent rapport with a faculty member with whom I have published a first-author paper. Said faculty member helped write my statement of purpose, was very supportive of my application, and was one of my letter writers. This is a huge blow. While this is a very competitive program, I thought I had a good shot. I cannot help but to feel overwhelmed with thoughts such as 'why didn't they accept me? where was I lacking? what did I do wrong? who else did they accept and why did they judge them to be better than me?'. I have to try to put away those thoughts, but it's very difficult.

1.5 years of full-time research experience. 2 second-author publications.

Get accepted by the MS AEM, EERE Track

Received an email from POI (Also auto decision email earlier today). He didn't get any student this year. Impressed by my app. It's not because I am not good enough. But it still hurts. Don't think will reapply next year. Just bad luck.

1.5 years of experience in academia, ~3 years of experience in industry. Grad GPA 3.9
