Rejected without being called for an interview. Applied one day before the deadline (Jan 9th), so assuming such a quick rejection could mean there are no supervisors left for my area of focus. Good luck to everyone else!

Anybody else waitlisted for the same course? And any idea on waitlisted students' chances of getting accepted?

Rejected from MSc in Economics (one-year program).

Rejected from MSc in Economics (two-year program). Middle Eastern. Holds B.Sc. double major in Economics and Mathematics from a top-10 US school. Good SOP, but okay LORs. I think they emphasize LORs a lot. Generic rejection letter mentioned: "Departments are looking for excellent references, a focused personal statement and in some cases relevant work experience and good test results"

I submitted the application on December 19th.

Status at the LFY changed from "under consideration by department" to "We are aware that your application is currently still under consideration with the Department. We have contacted the Department to follow up the progress on your application. As soon as a decision is made, it will be displayed here. Thank you for your continued patience." Anyone experiencing the same?

TPB: I submitted my application on the 12 DEC 2019. Hoping it's just a default message... It seems that the department has started to release decisions pretty early this year.

I also noticed the change of status. "We are aware that your application...." I also submitted Dec 12.

TPB: I submitted on Dec 12, and I am still “under consideration...”. I don’t know how to I interpret that. Thanks for the information!

Whilst it is not the policy of the School to give specific reasons for decisions, we offer the following to clarify matters. Decisions are contingent upon the availability of places, there are simply not enough places to give an offer to everybody with a first, upper second or equivalent. Many applicants, most of whom are extremely well qualified, are inevitably disappointed. Departments are looking for excellent references, a focussed personal statement and in some cases relevant work experience and good test results.
