Political Science Graduate School Admission Results

To the poster below accepted on March 11 for 2 year M Sc Econ program, when did you get your LFY ID? Thanks.

I got my ID in February 7.

TPB: Thanks for replying. I am a bit nervous now. I got my LFY ID on 5th Feb and have still not received a decision. I have 2 other offers with a deadline of 10th April. LSE is my top choice though.

applied mid December. got id in mid January

Anyone knows about phd scholarship results (LSE Studenship amd/or ESRC)?

2 year program. Had applied in Mid Jan, got LFY ID on 5th February. Result after exactly 8 weeks. This was my top choice. Didn't think I would be rejected from 2 year option.

TPB: congratulations! However, as a current LSE student I feel that I have to tell you something. Be careful to come to do the EME program without a good technical background. If you haven't done real analysis nor linear algebra, you are going to have a really tough time in this course. I seriously recommend you to contact current students to get their current exams in adv. Micro or econometrics and see what I am talking about. Consider taking hard maths during Summer, and if during the introductory courses you feel you can't cope with it, you can always change to MSc Economics or ask to postpone your exams to the next year to get some math background. Good luck!

TPB: Thank you for the insight. Is it easy to change your degree from Msc EME to Msc Economics after the program begins?

Oh well, I have a Math. double major. I have an A on graduate real analysis, and took any math course that is even remotely related to Economics. I have taken analysis courses most of economics professors did not even heard of and made them. I have taken phd level courses as electives during my economics bachelor, and took around 6 graduate level courses. I have a GPA of above 3.90 in both my majors. I was rejected last week. It has NOTHING to do with your GPA or whatever courses. The only thing that matters is which school you are from, who your referees are.

Expected by now. This was my 2nd chance program after M Sc. Economics. On the positive side, no more checking LFY daily.

70% average from a good UK university. Got my LSE for you 3 weeks ago.

Has anyone received any results from LSE these past 2 weeks? Not much update on Studentroom and my 2nd preference has been held pending for around 2 weeks now. No transcript drop so I'm extremely worried.

Will be accepting! Received LSE ID a month ago. Transcript dropped yesterday. 3.7 GPA, 4 years qual. research experience, paper currently under review. 1 year abroad in Japan. Absolutely thrilled!! Did not expect this at all!

Received a reply within 25 days of application. An early application may increase the chance of getting in. An undergrad in Economics and Finance at the University of London (External programme) Took the difficult courses in math and passed a few actuarial papers which covered graduate level stats and math.

Canadian student with two bachelors degree. GPA of 3.8/4, lots of work experience.
