Conditional offer of admission, no news about funding or college yet.

Double major in physics and math, 4.0 in major courses, 3 years research experience, 2 conferences, 1 pub in progress. :( haven't received a single acceptance yet

Invitation to open house; "To be clear, while we neither make official offers nor admit students until after our Open House, we only invite applicants we are considering for admission" From what I've heard from faculty, this is a very strong indicator of admission, and closer to a "check" than another filter to pass.

Congrats to all who are accepted! Fierce competition this year.

Quantum info theory. Current MIT research staff collaborating with several of the groups I applied to join. Got a raise 3 weeks ago. MIT remains deeply chaotic lol.

Double major in physics/engineering, 14 months equivilent full time research experience across two major projects and several minor projects including one I won funding for, 1 year TA/LA experiencing, 1 publication (not first author), several posters, and senior thesis (unpublished). I think there was a lack of fit between my interests and department research, on top of generally high competition (1700~ people for 40 slots).

A bit surprising since I had a very promising interview in which they said things like "you'd be a perfect fit" but that's OK. I was interviewed for PSFC despite my primary interest being experimental particle physics. Good luck to everyone else!
