Is "Applied Physics" different than "Theoretical Physics" when it comes to Stanford? I applied for hep-theory; should I be worried that I have not heard back yet?

Materials science track (note to future applicants: SEAS accepts students based on fit with and recommendation by (a) specific advisor(s). A large fraction of students, maybe 30%, do switch advisors, and this is fine as long as you find another SEAS professor to work with. Department seems very chill about this process, modulo individual attitudes. I did not list my advisor on my SoP, but we had a productive skype chat after I applied and it worked out for me.)

To the poster below: the Harvard applied pysics program is part of the John Paulson SEAS, which is entirely separate from the physics department, which operates within the GSAS. I applied to both, and it appears that the SEAS results are coming out today. I believe the physics department usually takes at least another week or so before sending out results.

From the trend in previous years, offers from SEAS should be later than Physics? I am just wondering why the official info of Applied Physics at SEAS is so early this year?

To the poster below, I think you must have misread the results. Harvard SEAS usually releases acceptances in the first or second week of February; this year it happened to be today. Harvard GSAS usually releases acceptances around the 10th. I would expect that this means next Friday or Monday this year, but we'll have to see.

To the posters below who were admitted, did you interview with a PI? Did you receive notification from the PI or from the department itself? I didn't receive an invitation to interview, so should I assume I didn't get in? Thanks!
