Graduate School Admission Results

So glad to be waitlisted instead of denied. I’m doing my undergrad here and this is my top choice. I got an emailed after 5pm from the program director saying they placed me on the waiting list. We will hear after April 15th if we have been accepted off the waitlist or not.

To those of you applying to Appalachian state: I know they’re on spring break this week but does anyone else’s application still only say submitted?

To their recent poster about ETSU: I also haven’t heard back. I’ve noticed most schools go in order of accepted, waitlisted and then denied. Maybe they’re doing the same. They’re also on spring break right now so the process might be delayed. Hopefully our portals update soon. Mine still just says that my application has been sent to the department.

If you’re on the waitlist don’t bother asking where you stand on it or anything about how the waitlist works there. They won’t ansee any questions about it

To those that are hearing from Appalachian: are you logging into your application to see your acceptance or is there some other portal? My application status still says submitted. With the record I’m having I probably didn’t get in.

To the person asking about ETSU: mine still just says my application has been sent to the department for review.

My goldlink account isn't showing my application either. It told me to clear my cache or whatever so I did and I still can't see anything about my application.

Received an email with a rejection letter attached. I was an out of state applicant. 2nd rejection, starting to get discouraged.

They do like 4 waves where they send out any type of decision offer. Don’t panic or wonder when you’ll find out. I know a girl who got accepted in late May. Just don’t email them asking about it

Still haven’t heard anything from Appalachian. My application still just says submitted.... getting nervous. It’s the only school I’m waiting to hear from

I got the same email everyone else did. I asked if that meant I was on the waitlist/ how their waitlist process works. They told me they don’t have a waitlist put together yet so I don’t really know what that means for us

I emailed the program director asking how I can improve my application and she gave very thoughtful feedback. If you were rejected from a school you thought you really had a chance at, or even if it was a reach program, email and ask. Having their honest answer is better than wondering why you weren’t selected.

Not surprised, this school really only looks at GRE and GPA. If your combined is under 300 you automatically get rejected. Quant was less than 150, so I’m out! I’m fortunate that 3 other schools felt like I’m a qualified applicant. No heart break here.

to the posters below, what time in pst did they let you know? I have not heard anything yet.

does anyone know if they sent out all the acceptances/waitlists at once, or if it is done in waves?

(I’m not the person who got accepted from the waitlist) but I emailed the program director and she said the waitlist is very fluid and that when she knew something i’d (we would) know something. She wasn’t able to tell me where I stood on the waitlist and didn’t make it seem like submitting extra things were allowed. I’m doing my undergrad here now and am really hoping to get in, but based on the other persons stats I’m probably at the bottom of the waitlist. Guess grad school isn’t in the cards for me this year

It frustrates me that many of you all have not heard back from ETSU. I'm currently in the same boat with UVA--they seem to be sending out their decisions in "waves" instead of all at once, which is stupid. I wonder if ya'll could reach out to the department/ Shelia Bennett about your application status. They were really helpful to me when I was applying and have been communicating with them throughout this process as I'm trying to make my decisions for graduate school. I understand how frustrating it is as I'm in the same boat with UVA :( good luck to everyone!

I was offered admission here but will be declining their offer as I have accepted elsewhere. I hope this helps someone on the waitlist. Best of luck all!
