Spanish Graduate School Admission Results

A quick "thanks but no thanks" saying I did not get an interview. No big. Strangely, this is the only Spanish program I've ever seen that requires the writing sample to be in English, which is not clearly my strong suit (see SPANISH degrees, haha). No worries!

The interim grad director contacted me to have a "corta" (short) phone conversation sometime in the next couple of days. I'm so excited to start hearing back from everyone!

Well this was certainly a slap in the face! I hope others were more successful. They stated that they had an unusually high number of applicants this year.

Recommended for admission by the Dept., now waiting on Graduate School for final decision.

I was accepted with a five-year TAship. I'm very happy!

GAship and small stipend.

A bit surprised, considering I had previous communication with the department. I met some of the professors whose work interested me the most, and they seemed genuinely happy with my prospects. My advisor is good friends with two committee members. I would love to know what went wrong. I still have the utmost respect for the program and wish others the best of luck!

Reason: not competitive enough compared to other candidates. It's ok. :)))

I received the email this morning: "I regret to inform you that we cannot accept you for admission to the Hisp & Luso Braz. Lit. & Lang. Doctoral program. I would like you to know that this decision was reached by the program's admission committee after careful consideration and examination of all the materials you submitted. "

I saw online that I was admitted a week before the letter came.

I got an email yesterday inviting me to read the rejection letter on their website.
