Did not have an interview neither received an answer from a professor who I tried to contact in advance. However, got accepted and this professor was mentioned as a temporary advisor in the accepting letter.

2 publications at 1st tier CV conferences (first author)

Rejected. To the below poster... specifically what did they told you?. How do you know you are in a waiting list?. They told me this: Admission to our program is very competitive and we have many good applicants; unfortunately, we have to limit the number of students we admit. At this time, we do not anticipate recommending anyone else for admission to the CS PhD graduate program for Fall 2016. If for any reason that changes we will contact you. Can I assume that I am in a waiting list?.

To the reject posters below: Did the mail say admission denied or was a soft refusal as pointed out by someone else? Thanks

I received the same email as those mentioned by previous posters. Yah you could call it a soft let down instead of a cold denial. But what does that matter, eh? Also, does this email really mean waitlist :P

So excited!! Had an interview a few weeks ago. 2 in-revision publications, 2 strong letters from ivy league profs (I went to a B level state school but did summer research at good schools)

Summer 2016. Applied Physics BSc, multiple internships and related research experience.
