British applicant to CSE SM. Disappointed because thought I had a strong application profile. Final year Computer Science undergrad at top UK Uni - First Class expected, 85% average so far. Lots of SWE internships at FAANG/HFT in London. Highly relevant and unique extracurriculars, ie online presence and published a book. Shortlisted for funding from Fulbright etc. (decisions not out yet) Felt like I had a good SOP, and very strong LoR. No idea what I was rejected on. No GRE necessary for this program. |

Knew it was coming after not getting last week's early email, but still disappointed. 2 pubs applying computational methods, a good amount of graduate coursework in target areas, was told by recommenders that my SOP and LORs were strong. Maybe they didn't like that I was switching from a hard engineering discipline rather than having a more aligned major like Math or CS. |
