Graduate School Admission Results

I had already been told by my POI that I was wait listed weeks ago. But received an email from GW admission saying my admission decision had been updated where I received a letter about being waist listed.

TPB: Thanks for your nice advice and your early decision. It will definitely help us. I sent an email to Dept. to ask about my ranking on wl couple of weeks ago but they replied that they could not provide any information. So I guess if Duke's deadline is morning April 15 then I could probably wait. But if the deadline is in the afternoon then I have to make my mind. So Duke does not ask you guys to respond by a specific time, just April 15?

Anyone heard about funding?

Happy about the acceptance, but unsure I will accept. The course becomes very expensive over 2 years, especially when considering living costs. Would have preferred 1 year MSc. I also have offers for UCL MSc and Cambridge MPhil - will likely accept UCL as the department is superior to Cambridge.

TPB: I recently declined this offer. I think it would be better to wait, but also ask the department the likelihood to be admitted, especially a few days before the deadline. Think that: 1) Depts. have a strong interest in accepting now people that are going to accept, then signalling this has a non-negative effect on the decision about your status; 2) Some depts. could also be clear with you, especially right before the deadline, that the chances are very high (i.e., you are on the top of the waitlist) or very low (i.e., there are 1-2 spots not yet accepted and you are 20th in the waitlist). In your interest, contact the faculty. Good luck!

Has anyone heard anything? I have not heard back at all since interviewing.

Has anyone else heard anything? The last contact I had with anyone was at the end of February to state that there were 4 initial offers and that everyone else that interviewed was considered to be on the wait list. They also stated they hope to get more funding to get a few more offers sent out. I have not heard anything else since then.

Has anyone else not recieved decision for austin MS?

To those admitted to Duke: What is the deadline on April 15 to respond to Duke's offer? I am waitlisted at Duke and I got another offer that I have to respond before 1 pm on April 15. Just curious whether Duke could make any move on the waitlist before that time or not. Thanks for your help!
