English Graduate School Admission Results

Email acceptance + notification that I have been placed on a waitlist for TAship. GPA is MA. 2a/1w/3r

Submitted: January 7th. Decision Pending: February 10th. Conditional Offer: March 4th.

4.0 Masters GPA. One interview.

I emailed asking when I could expect a decision and they replied that they are negotiating with the admitted candidates but that I am on the waitlist. Has anyone gotten an official rejection from UMD English? I'm not sure if being on the waitlist means anything or if it's just everyone who applied and wasn't initially accepted.

GPA is Master's. Waitlisted for the TAship (bummer) but this is my first acceptance, so I am really very excited!! It only takes one yes!! 1a/0w/6r/3p

offered ma acceptance after being rejected from their phd program

I can't believe it! Accepted to one of my top choices with full funding and a TAship. Subfield is Early Modern Literature. 1a/3w/7r/1p

In addition to the standard rejection email, the chair of English graduate studies reached out directly to let me know that it wasn't that I was a poor applicant, but that they didn't have enough coverage in my specialty at this point in time (early modern studies).

1a/0w/2r/1p - medieval studies specialization - on the waitlist for a TAship (lame) but otherwise a very happy occasion (my first acceptance)!! it really does only take one :) congrats to everyone else who got in and good luck to everyone still waiting

3.7 GPA during MA

I was just accepted for a TA position and funding today (3/3/25).

Canadian applicant. I received an unofficial MA offer from the EFS department via email. They let me know that a formal offer from GPS will follow in the next couple weeks.
