University of Wisconsin Electrical And Computer Engineering Graduate School Admission Results

Interviewed few days ago with potential advisor and today recieved email admissions from university. Low gpa, no gre scores.

Invited to virtual visit event next week to meet with ECE faculty and students. From the email: "later this month, upon the recommendation of at least one faculty advisor, you will be admitted to your research program of interest."

I got an invitation letter for a virtual event!!!

Invited to interview for potential advisor/research group. One hour later receieved invitation to rsvp invite only event to meet ece faculty. Status has not been confirmed but looks like good news to me. No GRE submitted.

Accepted into MS-MLSP; was asked to send official transcripts. Going to reject as I have better offers. Good luck to others!

To previous asker: sure! I'm in machine learning (I also applied to the CS and Stats PhD but haven't heard back from those yet). The interview was pretty informal. They asked about my research interests, what I do in my current job (specifically, I work in applied ML research so they asked about different ML-based challenges I've had to work with on different problems), and what math or math-heavy courses I took in undergrad and if there were any topics that piqued my interest. I also asked about some of their different projects and some general questions about the program. It seemed to go well—they said they would be in touch shortly but no specifics as to when.

Have they finished sending all admits for the PhD/MS programs?

Rejected for MS EE Research and gave an option for MS Professional Program (16 months). I have admits from UT Austin, Georgia Tech, UCLA, UCSD, pretty weird why I got rejected from this school!! Definitely not taking Professional MS.

My first admit! 2 relevant research papers, 1.5+ years of relevant industrial experience.

Not dejected. Planned on accepting offer from Gatech or UT Austin anyway.
