Typical "fierce competition" thing. Not so sad but wonder about statistics of those accepted.

To the poster below, I have not received acceptance but did receive an interview "funding" visitation offer. I have two years of undergrad research experience including two summers where I traveled (internationally and then domestically). I have one conference paper as first author where I presented orally and one journal paper as first author in progress (however, both are related to engineering education, not aero). One conference paper awaiting review based on one of my summer research experiences. My GRE scores were pretty bad, low 150s. Good GPA though, 3.8. I put a lot of emphasis on STEM outreach in my application.

Background: BS in Linguistics & French from University of Wisconsin, 4 semesters of Russian, some Ukrainian, some entry level comp sci courses- I spent the last year taking several courses online to strengthen my math/comp sci, completed training + practicum in Language and Literacy therapy for children w/ dyslexia, interested in working with alternative/augmentative communication devices (previous experience working w/non verbal individuals w/ autism). I believe my background working with children with disabilities and interest in assistive technology was big in my favor.

Received an email saying, "While you were not admitted to our daytime master's program, we are pleased to offer you admission into our department's Professional Master's Program (PMP)". Would this be as rigorous as the main MSEE program? Would be happy to hear any information regarding this program.

There were individual and group meetings with professors and some had previous interviews.

Was offered a spot in their online masters program instead. Email opened with "excited to offer you admission" before telling me it wasn't for the program I applied to, so that was a bit of a roller coaster.

Received email with formal acceptance and funding. Masters in demography and 3 years of research experience with publications.

GPA of 72.39% from VTU
