Northwestern University Graduate School Admission Results

applied for Astro PhD and didn't hear anything until May 1st, when I was asked if I would consider switching to the master’s program. It took until today to get the final decision. I'm writing this post to complain about how incredibly slow the process was. With this official rejection, my 2024 fall application season is finally over, with 0 offers. It's a bitter experience, but for the committee, they don't care about what you've been through or how hard you've worked to get in front of them; they only care if you meet their criteria. The world is very cruel. I want to thank my supervisors once again—everything I've achieved today is because of their kind help.

I did have an interview in January where PI basically said I was in and told me to expect an email in the following week. Not sure what happened haha.

I emailed to have an update on my status since the april 15th deadline had passed, got a response a couple of hours later with the rejection

Interviewed in mid-Feb and in the WL. Last minute Zoom call from the director today and off the WL.

had interview with PI. didn't seem like a good fit for either of us, so rejection makes sense. honestly department seems a bit toxic, glad I got a better offer

Generic rejection email. Northwestern was one of my last hopes for getting into grad school. My dreams are shattered and I'm crushed. Two high impact LORs, one publication, 2 years of research (theory and computation). Took grad classes in GR and particle, double majored in stats. What did I do wrong?
