not sure how to feel. a bit disappointed cuz this was my top program, but need to move on.

No research exp, non CS-major, 2 years work ex in distributed computing, strong LORs and SOP

Master student in Appl. Math at EPFL (5.55/6 current GPA), did research projects at EPFL. EEE 2022. Recs from top EPFL profs. I have had 3 gold medals in IMC 2021-2023 (international math competition for univ. students)

CS MSc student at ETHZ, thought I had a decent chance. Devastated :(

MS student at ETH. 5.7 GPA with an ongoing thesis, and multiple papers at top conferences (some first authored). Thought a high GPA from ETH was good enough but lol.

had three first-author publications in ML. made no prior contact with potential supervisors but maybe I should have done that...

BTech from IIT (2022). 2yr corporate work ex (including internship). 1 first-author paper in A* conference. 1 third auth paper in B/C conference. No foreign research experience.

Apply to ML. master student in CS at EPFL, 5.59/6.0 without thesis. Research assistant in both EPFL lab and industry. 3 papers in A* database conference. I expected this since I don't have any ML papers
