TTPB: okay, now we're just making up priors xD — as far as my own estimation goes, it's nothing quite this fancy. Let's just call it a well-educated guess and see how the final decisions pan out :)

TTPB: I am just curious -- was your method of arriving at the ~50% figure if not by some kind of loose estimation like the one I used? But fair point. Let me revise. (Fwiw, I thought the 14 was referring to the number of accepted students not matriculations). But anyway: (1) About 20% of accepted IS students post on here. But an interview is less of a big deal, so let's assume only 10% of interviewees post here. (2) Then 10 * 6 posts = 60 estimated interview invites. (3) To achieve 14 students enrolling, Cornell has to accept twice as much due to 50% yield rate. So there will be 28 acceptances. (4) Then the post-interview acceptance rate is 28/60 ~ 46%. Same number mwahaha ;)

TTPB: I do think, based on my own sleuthing, that the post-interview acceptance rate is just below 50%, though your numbers and assumptions are a bit off. For starters, in order to fill 14 spots, Cornell has to accept about twice that number, given that the historical yield rate for Cornell IS has hovered around 50%. This indicates that one can't use the "acceptance to posted acceptance" ratio (your step 1) to approximate the "interview to posted interview invite" (step 2) — the explanation for this is that an applicant is probably more inclined to post about an acceptance than about an interview.

I received what looked to be a form email from the Director of Graduate Studies. Despite applying to their Interdisciplinary concentration, it stated, "We simply don't have enough slots available to work with a large faculty whose interests are unusually various." Hopefully, one of the seven remaining schools takes me. Congrats to those who make it in!

TTPB: I'm not sure *exactly* what odds of getting in after interview are, but my guess is 46%. Here's my estimation: (1) For a similar infosci program, there were about 5x acceptances last year as posted acceptances on gradcafe. (2) Since there are 6 interview posts for this program this year, let's assume there were actually 6*5 = 30 interview invites. (3) Another poster said there are 14 places this year. (4) That leads to a post-interview acceptance rate of 14/30 = 46%. I think 46% feels somewhat right. That would mean the odds of getting an interview are 10%, and I think that tracks with previous year selectivity.
