TPB: good point. That is actually why some schools wait until April 15. Even the final hours matter, as a chain may be triggered very late. That said, I think it is also a good idea if everyone declares which offers they are going to decline, specifically those at high ranking universities.

Just got the email saying I was recommended for admission. 24K stipend. Will likely decline.

Hi everybody. One important point is that there is a chain when someone rejects an offer. Say that person A is admitted both at MIT and Harvard. When A rejects Harvard offer, person B who is on the waiting list of Harvard is picked up. As B is now accepted in Harvard, he rejects his Stanford offer. This chain can potentially continue to very low ranking universities. Therefore, it is genuinely helpful if those who are admitted at high ranking universities decline their less preferred offers. If Cornell is this informal, they can reject me now. Since when do theywrite in first person. Since whendo they tell you your rankings in the waitlist. "I am writing to let you know that you have been placed on our waitlist and are ranked high on our list of applicants to the PhD program"

TPB: Why can't they? Most schools do exactly that. Acceptances+waitlists come first and then rejections

Does which track I applied for affect my chance off the waitlist? and can anyone change his/her track after admission?

TPB: You mean they notify us every time one person declines the offer? Or should we wait till the end of the march to get a sense of the number of declines?

TPB: I received an email without a tuition waiver, and they asked me whether I have external fundings. Does any insider know the situation of tuition waiver of MPhil/Ph.D. years? Will I have to pay tuition from the MPhil year onwards？Thanks!

I had an interview 2 weeks ago and received the offer with an official letter.
