- Hi everybody. One important point is that there is a chain when someone rejects an offer. Say that person A is admitted both at MIT and Harvard. When A rejects Harvard offer, person B who is on the waiting list of Harvard is picked up. As B is now accepted in Harvard, he rejects his Stanford offer. This chain can potentially continue to very low ranking universities. Therefore, it is genuinely helpful if those who are admitted at high ranking universities decline their less preferred offers. Thanks in advance and good luck to everyone in the rest of the admissions process.
