Ignore status. Does anyone know anything about admission process of this program?

I got only admission in Jan, but this time I got a mail with funding info.

The bottom line is I rejected unofficially, but official letter will be coming. I had an interview with one of the committee members in last week of Feb. Somedays later, I got a mail from the professor. He informed me that I ranked highly, but my academic background was pointed out as a problem in admission committee. I am rejected, but I don't feel bad bacause of their kindness. Anyway, Good Luck to admittes students and other students too.

TPB: Can you please share the content of the waitlist email? Did they send an official letter and was it a personal email from a professor or the department?

Reasonably optimistic email, though I felt quite confident after the interview - oh well! Clearly overshot this season. 2a/3wl/7r

Emailed the Professor who interviewed me and I was told that I would not receive an offer. They only admit 9 students this cycle and they have to balance the fields when they make offers.

Congrats to those admitted. If you are not planning to attend, please decline your offers as soon as possible. I would really appreciate it.

Received an email about the date of visit day and informing me that I am on waitlist. Does anyone know usually how long is the waiting list at UCSD and how likely is the chance of getting off the list? Your info would be greatly appreciated!

Got an email from chairs of admissions committee, second round offers will be made around 10th April (quite late)
