Economics PhD Graduate School Admission Results

Accepted from waitlist, I received an email last week that I was initially waitlisted and that they are ready to make second round offers and if I had accepted any other offers. Then I got an official email today with acceptance and funding.

Accepted but waitlisted for funding. To those who were accepted but not planning to attend, could you decline the offer UW? Thank y'all for your kindness in advance!!

I received an interview request from the director of graduate studies. I really hope that the interview goes well.

Status update was posted on portal. Gorgeous city, magnificient academic staff. It's my dream school. Looking forward to get off from the waitlist.

Just rejected the offer - First round of acceptances off the waitlist. Really liked the program, but it lacked researchers in my intended area. Good luck to anyone who's hoping to get in!

Email from the Graduate Program Head. He said my status is still active and they are waiting for other applicants' responses to make other offers until April 15th. This is the top school on my wishlist. If you have been accepted and have other dominating offers, please reject before April 15th.

Accepted after interview. They want a response by April 8th. Still pondering but am likely to decline the offer. Anyone heard about the placement of the PhD?

I emailed the econ admin email and they said that they have sent out all the waitlist and admit decisions.

This is my top offer by far. Please if you have dominating (not even strictly) offer reject this. It would be much appreciated. Best wishes.

IU insider: Our department announced that the fund (stipend + tuition) will not be guaranteed beyond the fifth year. The students who will be in their sixth year this fall are very frustrated and are trying to find external funding. However, it was a last-minute notice, so most external funding sources' application deadlines have already passed. I strongly recommend that those who have received admission or are on the waitlist search for alternative programs. Not providing funding in the sixth year is very concerning. The department wants PhD students to graduate within five years, but this is impossible because our course load is too heavy. Our program is notorious for its heavy coursework. Including tool skill courses taken outside the department (which count for 9 credits), students need to complete 99 credits in the first four years. Please save yourself!

PLEASE please please decline the offer if you have a dominating one. UCLA is my dream school and it is my only hope. Thank you!!
