Creative Writing MFA Graduate School Admission Results

Received a call notifying me of acceptance on 3/1--got my financial aid package in the mail on 3/11. Got $32,000 over the course of the two-year degree, plus work study.

This rejection stung like no other, because I was an undergrad at Columbia, and I thought my manuscript was pretty strong. I think all the debt I incurred as an undergrad factored into my admission decision, I guess Columbia prefers when you don't have too much debt, so that they can assuredly cripple you with more debt. I got into another prestigious program with a generous scholarship, and in hindsight screw all these educational institutions that force us to carry so much debt, for their silly ivy league name. It's another version of modern day slavery and its not worth the money. First institutions like Columbia take so long to admit how they benefitted from slavery and then in modern times they have no qualms about making slaves out of their graduates with debt that will take a lifetime to pay back. Kiss my enslaved ass Columbia!

Just this morning my status changed from "under departmental review" to "under graduate school review."

The email went to my "Promotions" folder in Gmail. Promoted to Depressive Episode Number Three, I guess. 0a/0w/3r/4p

1a/1w/3r/5p - just glad that I have been already accepted to a top funded program.

I saw it on their application status, it's the first result I got now but surprisingly I don't feel much because the reason is because one of my teachers didn't upload his recommendation letter... So at least it was not that the short I wrote is not good enough...

Folks who have heard from Columbia - was there a change in the status of your application on the admissions portal?

In off the waitlist. Going into today I had zero acceptances and was waitlisted at three schools...feels so good to be accepted to at least one! 1a/2w/2r/7p
