Philosophy, University Of British Columbia I have a first-class degree. Was surprised by the result but UBC philosophy doesn't appear to waitlist students--may be wrong though. Looking at the admissions stats, UBC phil seems to accept VERY few students. Also seems like UBC prefers philosophy of mind/science students.

Computer Science, University Of British Columbia Finally. Had 1 paper and decent LORs. Got into UBC for their data science program. Final tally: 6/14 seems good. Will either go to Amherst or Waterloo.

Computer Science, University Of British Columbia End of story. Rejected from all choices. I am a CS major. Two publications of two unrelated fields (one first author, another IF=>5). A research exchange experience with UBC before (not CS). Some work and research experiences.

Computer Science, University Of British Columbia TTBP: I had applied to CMU (4 programs), UIUC, UCLA, UCSD, GTech, UBC and UTornoto. Tough luck especially with my offer getting rescinded. Since UBC's MSc is thesis based, they give a lot of importance to LoRs and research exp. You could try to publish at top conferences on your own and get an LoR that speaks about your ability to perform research in an academic setting. Try to get 2 LoRs from academia + 1 from work/intern for UBC

Computer Science, University Of British Columbia TTPB: I had an interview with a professor on the 6th May and received the acceptance on the 8th via email. The deadline to accept is 1st June so I guess UBC will be sending updates soon to whoever hasn't heard from them. Good luck if you are still waiting, late admission is a thing apparently!

Computer Science, University Of British Columbia Most Canadian schools are taking really long, unfortunately :( I would accept your current offer and decline it later in case UBC sends you something more interesting. It sucks but in light of the situation that we're in right now it's understandable.

I have another offer which need to be decided at the end of this week, and I am pretty doubt that UBC will release their decision by then. I emailed them, but they just sent general response which is unhelpful. Very tired of waiting. Good luck to all who are still waiting!

Data Science, University Of British Columbia Got waitlisted here Last Friday (17th). Can anyone tell me more about the tech scene especially the AI scene in Canada? I have decent admits from the USA: Amherst, UCSD, etc. What would be better if I get into UBC (already have admit from Waterloo DS) ?
