Received the email overnight.

All hope is not lost for the UNLV wait list. I was accepted on Sunday night but haven't yet decided to attend. I'm trying to make my decision as quickly as I can, so don't give up.

Any movement on the fiction waitlist? None of the accepted people seem to have turned down their offers so I'm assuming all hope is lost for me on this front.

Accepted off the waitlist--I am accepting it. I will be removing myself from the waitlists at Virginia Commonwealth and Western Michigan, as well as turning down my acceptances at Utah (no funding) and Mankato (with TAship). This is the end for me--you guys have been at times my sanity and at times my insanity. Thank you and good luck, everyone.

If you have been accepted to WVU or Indiana for fiction and do not plan on attending, please let them know as soon as you can. Much appreciated.

Finally worked up the nerve to inquire and was told I'd made their wait list

Emailed about my status and was told that I had been wait listed.

The deadline for submission was December 15. The cost of applying was $70. And I am just now hearing a decision. Almost a week into April. Cool.

On the admissions page it says acceptances went out by the 25th of March and Waitlists before the 1st of April. So no news is bad news.

Poster below: I do know that with Iowa's admissions process, students, fellows, read first rounds. There are between 1000 - 1400 manuscripts to go through. The pool gets smaller and smaller as it goes up the chain. Samantha Chang doesn't read until the pool has been considerably reduced. While she signs every response letter, if you didn't get a personal note, there's a good likelihood she didn't actually read your manuscript. So, I wouldn't take it as a personal rejection from her. You should certainly try again in future, when you feel ready.

Basic letter. No special note. A lot of people here have received a special note from the Lan Samantha Chang and it makes me feel like my application and portfolio must have truly been that bad. If so many people are getting special notes, then there must be a few of us who really had stunk. I don’t know if that means that I should even apply next year, given that I didn’t receive such a note. Has anyone applied again after a basic letter? Any personalized response after that?
