- Basic letter. No special note. A lot of people here have received a special note from the Lan Samantha Chang and it makes me feel like my application and portfolio must have truly been that bad. If so many people are getting special notes, then there must be a few of us who really had stunk. I don’t know if that means that I should even apply next year, given that I didn’t receive such a note. Has anyone applied again after a basic letter? Any personalized response after that?
