Genome Sciences, University Of Washington 1 first author paper published. 3 other co-authored papers under review. Presented 2 posters. 3 national level awards. 4 years of computational biology research experience with 3 being full time. Currently doing research at a Harvard affiliate with a famous PI in the field but no LOR. My previous position was also with a well known PI who wrote a LOR. BS in unrelated field from a mid tier school (ranked ~150 in the US).

Genome Sciences, University Of Washington Congratulations to interview invitees! I'll post my vague stats so others don't feel discouraged about this year's turnout: BS degree from top 5 US public biology program (some rank it top 10 globally regardless of public status); masters from top 5 CS program, published over 8 high-impact papers with leading PIs (most in Nature); researcher for 3+ years at top university (one PI is world-renowned in his BMS field and provided an LOR). I have many awards plus leadership/teaching experiences. My undergrad GPA is on the low side; however, my masters GPA is high. Take this with a grain of salt when comparing yourself as there are many factors beyond stats when evaluating applicants (ex: personal statement, LORs, research experiences, etc.).

Genome Sciences, University Of Washington Did not take GRE. Have two years of post-bac research experience. The notification email was mostly generic. "We have had a large number of highly qualified applicants, nearly all of whom have extensive research experience and have had successful academic preparation. We typically make offers to about 10 - 12% of applicants."
