  • TPB: I was accepted in February and still haven't heard about funding. On mathematicsgre.com I saw that only two posters had been offered funding (one of them declined). I emailed the graduate coordinator and was told that they sometimes make offers after April 15th, but that she didn't have any other info. Hopefully we hear back soon!

  • Surprisingly rude rejection letter. I got into better programs so this is fine by me. "We have received your application for admission to the Mathematics, Doctor of Philosophy program at The Ohio State University for the autumn 2019 semester. After careful consideration of your application, I'm sorry to inform you that the Graduate Studies Committee did not approve your admission to the program. In light of a highly competitive applicant pool, your application was not as competitive as others the committee reviewed."

  • Received an e-mail to check the application website. The Website had a link that leads to a letter reading: "The faculty in the Mathematics Ph D program, have completed a review of your application for admission to graduate study at the University of Minnesota. We have carefully considered all of your application materials, and unfortunately your admission has not been approved. There were a great many excellent applications, and therefore the final decision was very difficult. I sincerely regret that we are unable to approve your admission, and hope that our decision will not discourage you from pursuing further academic education or professional development. Please accept our best wishes for success in your future endeavors."
