  • Oh well, I have a Math. double major. I have an A on graduate real analysis, and took any math course that is even remotely related to Economics. I have taken analysis courses most of economics professors did not even heard of and made them. I have taken phd level courses as electives during my economics bachelor, and took around 6 graduate level courses. I have a GPA of above 3.90 in both my majors. I was rejected last week. It has NOTHING to do with your GPA or whatever courses. The only thing that matters is which school you are from, who your referees are.

  • TPB: Thank you for the insight. Is it easy to change your degree from Msc EME to Msc Economics after the program begins?
London School Of Economics & Political Science (LSE)Econometrics And Mathematical Economics, Masters (F19)Other via Other on 12 Apr 2019 O12 Apr 2019
  • TPB: congratulations! However, as a current LSE student I feel that I have to tell you something. Be careful to come to do the EME program without a good technical background. If you haven't done real analysis nor linear algebra, you are going to have a really tough time in this course. I seriously recommend you to contact current students to get their current exams in adv. Micro or econometrics and see what I am talking about. Consider taking hard maths during Summer, and if during the introductory courses you feel you can't cope with it, you can always change to MSc Economics or ask to postpone your exams to the next year to get some math background. Good luck!

  • Finally, accepted the offer. Saw someone posted that they took real analysis and measure theory along with some grad level econ courses. They also posted their stellar cgpa and gre score. I just wanna let y'all know that I did not take any of those upper year courses and my gre was at the lower end, and yet I got in. So don't be discouraged if you did not take those extremely hard courses. It's not the end of the world.

  • Please never give up! I think I updated the only result of U of A math master so far. U of A is sort of like dream school since my research focus highly coincide to a prof's. The math dept did not provided me any useful information of their review at all, which is very frustrating. Anyway, although there are just couple of days left, please hang on there.
